An interesting SEO tidbit.

Just doing some SEO research for my personal project land-rover-sales.com when I discovered something interesting. Because most browsers only display about 70 characters Googles advice is for the title tag to be about that lengh. One of the things I checked was how many pages contain the term Land Rover over the term Land Rovers (plural). Interesting result:

  • Land Rovers - 977,000
  • Land Rover - 43,700,000

Quite a difference. I used Googlefight by the way is an interesting little site and also useful in its own way. I'm going to get on with optimising the meta stuff now but thought this made a good example of the importance of doing a little bit of research.

land-rover-sales.com goes live.

www.land-rover-sales.com has just gone live. It's a personal project of mine and the banner has undergone even more changes. The theme also changed at the last minute but I like the look of it. There are far too many cold and clinical sites around as it is and hopefully it looks a little warmer and friendlier. I feel it's a little boring at the moment, basically one blog entry and a sitemap but all the important underlying bits and pieces are there as well as the all important 'knowing where you're going' aspect which is like a bizarre 'thought exercise'.

If you'd like to check it out do so here - www.land-rover-sales.com *will open a new window

Adobe Photoshop for free.

I've been an Adobe user for a long time, mainly using Photoshop Elements from my photography days, so I thought I'd stick with it. A little while ago I upgraded to Photoshop Elements 6 (for the Mac) and using it still feels like second nature to me.
Anyway even though Adobe have been a little slow with Mac support in the recent past they seem to have come round. And even though their products cost (boy is their stuff the opposite of free!) and you could definitely consider them 'the man' I feel there is a reason why so many of their products are considered 'industry standard' ie. Photoshop, Acrobat, Illustrator etc.

If you want to you can download a trial of any of their products for free right here - Free Trial Downloads from Adobe.
Now I really should get back to work.
